GENERALISED LOSS

Diffuse thinning across the scalp can have a few different causes. Getting a proper doctor review early means you understand what's happening and what your options are.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Get the facts on what causes hair loss and how LidMate helps. We break down the science, causes, and treatments that actually work.

For most men it comes down to genetics. Male pattern hair loss runs in families and can show up earlier than you'd expect, sometimes in your twenties, sometimes sooner.

Hormonal changes and things like nutrient deficiencies can play a role too, but the honest answer for most blokes is: it's in the genes.

One key hormone involved is DHT. DHT is a hormone that does useful things when you're younger. Later in life, if levels run high, it can start working against your hair, gradually shrinking follicles and shortening the window each hair has to grow. It's a slow process, which is exactly why getting on top of it earlier tends to give you more to work with.

Your body converts testosterone into DHT naturally. For most men that's fine. But when DHT levels climb too high, the effects can include male pattern hair loss and, in some cases, an enlarged prostate. It's one of those things worth keeping in check.

The evidence is solid.

Around 90% of men maintain what they have, and about two-thirds see some regrowth on top of that.

Side effects are uncommon; with around 2% of men experience them, and when they do occur they're generally mild and tend to resolve on their own. Not bad odds for keeping the good stuff going.

Like anything you put in your body, side effects are possible, but they're not common. These medications have been used for decades and are well studied. Most men get on with them without any issues. Your LidMate doctor will talk you through what to watch for and is available if anything comes up.

LidMate doctors prescribe the two most clinically supported treatments for male pattern hair loss, combined into a single daily tablet or topical foam.

Both have been used for decades and have a strong track record. Your doctor will confirm whether they're the right fit for you before anything is prescribed.
